Town Board.

Monday, November 15th. Present—Messrs G. W. Rogers (chairman), R. Pepperill, W. Christie, D. McGregor, and J. M. Hickey, Minutes read and confirmed. The Chairman asked the clerk if all fences had been removed in accordance with the Board’s resolution. The Clerk said he did not know as he had not been round to see, and he had not been appointed to see to it. Resolved, That the clerk be instructed to inspect and report to the next meeting of the Board. (Rogers-Christie). DRAINAGE. The question of allowing offensive matter to run into street drains and water tables was discussed at length, and it was finally resolved that both hotelkeepers be written to pointing out the nuisance in the past and requesting them to abate the nuisance. (Rogers-Pepperill.) TRANSFERS. A number of transfers of town sections were consented to. TOWN HALL. John Stewart, Sec, Caledonian Society, applied for the use of the hall on the night of the sports, December 27th.—Held over. W. D. Scott applied for the use of the hall for Wednesday evening for the social to Mr and Mrs Twomey. Resolved, That the use of the hall be granted free of charge. (Rogers-Hickey. G. C. Heenan applied for the use of the hall for bike’ practice. Resolved, That he be granted the use of it. The charge to be Is each time it is required. (Hickey-Rogers.) Accounts, —C. DeCastro LI 7s 7d, D. Murphy 13s 2d, A. Elgar 3s 3d, J. S, Knobbs 15a, P, Dos Forges ss. CROSSING. C. A. Trotter applied for permission to put in a crossing to his new premises.—Granted. board’s reserves. J. Stewart wrote, pointing out what he considered the unfairness of putting up a section which he had taken up as he had only one years’ use of it, after being at the expense of putting up a substantial fence, paying rates on it, &c. Resolved, That matter be held over, the clerk to prepare full particulars of all the reserves and lay it before the next meeting of the Board.
