A Sailor Drowned.

Dunedin, October 28. James Anderson, a seaman on the ship Ben Nevis, was drowned on Tuesday night by walking over Rattray street wharf. He was proceeding on board with the carpenter, and walked over the wharf. Thomas McGladery, the carpenter, said he thought the deceased was short-sighted. * A verdict was returned of Accidentally Drowned, the coroner’s jury adding 1 a rider recommending McGladery, who had jumped in to save the man, to the notice of the Humane Society for his bravery.
