Charitable Aid Board.

Wellington, October 22. A deputation consisting of members of the Charitable Aid Conference waited on the Premier and the Hon. Mr Walker this morning and placed before them the decisions arrived at by the conference. Hon, Mr Walker said the establishment of labor farms was one of the truest solutions of the charitable aid question, and the Government were cordially anxious to co-operate with charitable aid boards in that direction. Mr Seddon said the desire of the Government was to perfect the charitable aid system. He thought there should be wider representation on charitable aid boards and was of opinion that the law respecting wife desertion should be made so drastic that cases would become few and far between. The representations made by the deputation would be placed before the Cabinet.
