Forty Years Mining in AUSTRALIA.
I halted at the gate of a pretty bush residence which answered to the description given me, and asked of the lady whom I found enthusias ically gardening, " Does Mr J. Thomas live here.?" Eeceiving a very pleasant reply, which assured me that I had made no mistake, I wns conducted to the presence of Mrs Thomas, who, in the absence of her husband, who is a miner, gave me the following interesting details for publication : «« My husband and 1 have lived in Heathcote (Victoria) and immediate yicinity for 41 years, 86 of which have been spent on tbis spot." " Your home is most charmingly situated and it would appear that the locality suits your health admirably, Mrs Thomas." " Appearances are misleading sometimes, And although I am hale and hearty now and am over 74 years of age, I have seen a great deal of suffering and trouble. Why, until a short time ago I had not known for 40 years what permanent relief from pain was." " You have had more than your share of life's troubles then, Mrs Thomas." " Yes. It was as near as I oan remember in '57 that I had my first attack of rheumatism, and these have followed me up on and off for 40 years. About' nine years ago my troubles were added to by enlargement of the liver, and this in itself more than sufficient to kill most people of my age, was aggravated by inflammation of the kidneys. As you may imagine I was in a very critical condition for a long time, and when about. to pull mpself together again another severe attack of rheumatism brought me down. This brings me about five years back, when I caught influenza for the first time. But to shorten the story I had further attacks of rheumatism and influenza again the following year, and though the influenza missed me for the next two years rheumatism did not." " Life under these conditions must have been almost intolerable, Mrs Thomas." "It was. But I had more to face yet, for about a year and nine months I was laid up with a third attack of influenza. I never seemed to be able to throw this off, as I had the others, and it made me feel terribly lowspirited. My oldest enemy, rheuma-, tism, kept going at me, and it seemed that between them they were going to get the best of me." " Of course you took advice at this stage ? " " Yes. I had four or five doctors, but their advice and physic was not the least bit of good, and I felt I could not last much longer. The pain I Buffered beats description. I could not lie down, and the only position in which partial relief was to be found was sitting bearing to one side. I could not bear anything to touch my back. I don't like to think of the torture through which I have passed ; it was terrible; I lost all power in my legs. At this stage, when there appeared no hope for me, my attention was attracted to some of the published cures which had been effected by Dr. Williams' Pink Pills of cases which had been pronounced by doctors and hospitals as hopeless, and I determined to make a trial of them. This was in the early part of April, and I was feeling just about as bad as I had ever-felt. By the time three boxes were taken a marked improvement was noticeable, and this happy alteration continued until I was at the 12th box quite enabled to discontinue the treatment." " This wonderful change has, I suppose, occasioned a deal of comment among your friends and acquaintances ? " " They were astounded at my recovery and quite a number are taking the pills, and others have expressed their determination to do so should they ever feel in need of treatment." '• I believe you sometimes go to town ? " " Quite true, and this means a walk of th>€9 miles, with a rise or two to face, a very fair undertaking for one on the wrong side of 74." "And you are confident that Dr Williams' Pink Pills for Pale People have been the means of restoring you to health ? " " I am perfectly confident of this, and have no hesitation in saying so, and I shall recommend your wonderful remedy whenever I have an opportunity." In addition to being an undoubted cure for the ailments mentioned in the foregoing, Dr Williams' Pink Pills are invaluable in cases of Neuralgia, Paralysis, Locomotor Ataxy, St. Vitus' Dance, Nervous Headache, Scrofula, Chronic Erysipelas, &c. They are not a purgative, but they restore pale and sallow complexion to the glow of health, and are a specific for all the troubles peculiar to the female, while in men they effect a radical cure in all cases arising from worry, overwork or excess of any nature.
