Trotting Conference.

Wellington, July 31. The Trotting Conference adopted a constitution ; in case of clubs with two or more meetings in the year two delegates; in others one each. Several minor alterations were made in the rules and it was decided that horses trotting at racing or sports not licensed by the Association, together with their owners, trainers and riders be disqualified. The motion to expunge the rule permitting pony races at trotting meetings was lost. The Referee was appointed the official calender. A new rule respecting protests was added aud the clause amended making acceptors of tote odds equally liable to punishment with the larger disqualifications which are to take effect immediately the decision is announced. It was resolved that in a race when the winner of the race which is disqualified had distanced the others the race shall be re-run. The rule relating to trainers and jockeys fund was deleted. After several minor alterations in the rules in regard to the conduct of meeting had been adopted, a committee was set up to wait on the Colonial Secretary, asking for additional permits to use the totalisator. The number to be asked for is 35. The Conference, which will meet in Wellington next year, then broke up.
