Messrs Nolan, Tonk» and Co.’s Stock Report. Hawera, July 29. At Eltbam, on 25th inst, we had a fair muster of cattle, but bidding throughout was slack. Mr Calvert’s cows were late calvers, and sold from £8 5s to £4 12s. At Hawera, on the 29th inst., the quantity of stock came forward, most of which were disposed of at the hammer. We quote—At Eltham—Springing heifers, £3 3s 6d to £4 ss; dairy cows, £4 to £5 ; store cows, 80s to 35s ; cows and calves, £2 7s ; weaners, 13s to 17s ; calves, 7s to Bs. At Hawera— steers, £8 8s ; forward condition cows, £2 5s to £2 7s ; yearling steers, 18s 6d to 21s ; 18-month heifers, 19s to 28s; fat cows, £2 17s to £8 12a ; springing heifers, £8 10s to £4 5s ; dairy cows, £4 10s to £5. Sheep—Wethers, 7s 3d to 7s 7d ; shorn hoggets, 4s lid ; woolly hoggets, 6s 6d to 7s ; cull ewes, 2s to 8s lid ; mixed ewes and wethers, 5s 3d ; 4-tooth ewes in lamb, 12s 2d. Messrs F. R. Jackson and Co’s Stock Report. Wanganui, July 29. Not many cattle came forward far the Waverley sale, but we had a fair entry for St. Hill Street. We have no alterations in quotations to make. Pigs were well competed for and maintained prices. Cattle.—At Waverley Weaners made 225. At St. Hill Street—Fat cows, £3 10s to £3 lls; bullocks, £5 Is ; heifers, in calf, £2 10s ; cows in calf, in low condition, 295; milch cows, £8 12s to £4 IQs-r yearlings, 25s ; weaners. 10s 6d. Sheep—At Waverley—Wethers. 9s to 10s ; fat ewes, 8s ; lambs, 6s 4d to 7s 9J. At St. Hill Street —Fat Wethers, lls 7d ; fat ewes, 8s ; mixed 9s 6d ; store wethers, 9s 4d; empty ewes, 6s to 6s 2d ; mixed ewes and wethers, 7s 6d ; old ewes, 2s Id to 2s 2d. iSgmont Farmers’ Union (Limited) Report. Hawera, July 29. At the clearing sale on Mr Exley’s farm last Tuesday, cows were not forward enough to command good competition, but farm sundries sold well. On Wednesday, at Manaia the number of stock was not very large but there was a good attendance of buyers, and all young cattle sold well. We quote—At Exley’s—Dairy cows and heifers,.£3 to £5 10s ; 18-month steers, 35s to 40s 6d. Sheep—Hoggets, 5s 9d. At Manaia—Dairy cows, £2 15s to £4 ; springing heifers, £2 to £3 5s ; weaners, 17s to 19s. Sheep—Fat sheep, 10s 3d to 14s Id.
