Parihaka Road Board.
The ordinary monthly meeting of the above Board was held on Monday, April 19th. Present: Messrs Fleming (chairman), Dew, McHardy, Alexander, Phillips, Wright, and Stronge. The Clerk read the result of the election as follows : Phillips, 59 ; Stronge, 53 ; Moore, 26. Messrs Phillips and Stronge were declared elected 1 Lots were drawn to decide which member should stand out at the annual election, and the lot fell to Mr Stronge. The minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed. Mr Malcolm waited on the Board, asking permission to erect temporary fence on the Kina Road opposite his section, until such time as present fence is taken down and a new one erected.
Resolved, That permission be granted to Mr Malcolm as requested. (McHardy-Stronge.) A letter was received from the County Council, to remove culvert at entrance to Kahui Road, and erect one sufficiently large to carry off the water on the proper boundary.
Eesolved, That the Clerk write to the Council, explaining that outlet to culvert was blocked owing to a small culvert being across such outlet, which is a County ditch, and through the ditch not being cleaned out. (FlenringMoHardy.) Resolved, That Mr Dobson be instructed to enlarge the culvert across ditch at his entrance, and also to put two yards of metal on road where damaged through water from his property. (Dew-Alexander.) Resolved, That the Overseer be instructed to get outlet to culvert cleaned on Kahui Road. (WrightDew.) Resolved, That the Overseer be instructed to have stone put in on hill on Kahui Road to protect watertable. (McHardy-Dew.) The following tenders were dealt with: —Contract 27. Cape Road.— W. Re veil, 3s per yard ; G. Dunton, 3s per yard (accepted). Contract 28. Tipoka Road.—H. Harrison, £6 15s ; tender too high. Contract 29. Waiteika Road.—J. Boyle, £7 19s (accepted). Contract 30. Kina Road.— R. Malcolm, £5 10s ; G. Dunton, £5 (accepted.) Resolved, That the Overseer be empowered to let work on Tipoka Road, cost not to exceed amount authorised. (McHardy-Stronge.) Resolved, That the Clerk sue for all rates outstanding after the Bth May. (Alexander-Phillips.) General accounts to the amount of £6l 14s 6d, and loan account to the amount of £196 14s 3d were passed for payment.
