Parihaka Road Board.

The ordinary monthly meeting of the above Board was held on Mon nay, February 15th. Present: Messrs M. Fleming (chairman), F. Alexander, W. J. Wells, and W. J. Dew. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. WAITEIKA ROAD LOAN. Messrs Cootnbridge and Graham waited on the Board to urge upon them the necessity for endeavoring to get the loan expenditure put in hand as soon as possible. No information had as yet been received from the Treasury that the money for the loan was available. Resolved that tenders be called for works provided for by loan, tenders to be in by Ist March, and to be dealt with provided the money has been placed at the disposal of the Board in the meantime. (Fleming-Alexander.) ARAWHATA ROAD. Mr Dalton waited on the Board with regard to certain urgent work required on Arawhata Road. He itated that he and Mr Deegan were willing to do the work and wait for payment until the road was in credit. Resolved, That request be granted. (Alexander-Dew.) TENDERS. No. 14.—J. Mr Alexander called attention to the urgent necessity for certain works on the Kina Road, and said Mr Cook was agreeable to do the work at a very low price in order to get it done before winter set in. The Chairman said no doubt the price quoted was very low, but he did not approve of that system of doing works. •It was finally resolved that the • overseer be empowered to arrange with Mr Cook, and also to see to some ditching opposite Mr Pentelow’s (Alexander-Dew.) TIPOKA ROAD. Mr Dew suggested that as the whole of the flax traffic was on the Tipoka Road that the rates from the Parihaka Road should be spent on the Tipol a Road. Matter to stand over until next meeting. BY-LAWS. The special order making by-laws was confirmed. (Fleming-Alexauder). The usual accounts were passed for fayment and the Board adjourned.
