Sad Drowning Accident.

Auckland, December 18

Jeremiah Olive, 9 years of age, was drowned while bathing at Helensville. Two boys, aged 13 and 11, tried to rescue him, but failed. His brother, aged 14, hearing of the alarm, ran down the bank; and jumped in with his clothes on, and reached the deceased just as the latter's head wa3 coming to the surface. The drowning lad put his arms round his brother's neck, but immediately afterwards let go and sank. He never rose again. The jury expressed high opinion of the bravery of the boys who had attempted to rescue the deceased, especially the brother.
