Haweba, December 17. We had only a moderate entry of cattle at Manaia on Wednesday 16th inst, but quite enough for local demand, which was very ■lack. Bidding wag not brisk, so that only a ■mall amount of business was done. We quote :—Yearlings, 20s to 37s 6d ; weaners, 9s to 16s: cows and calves, £2 6s to £3 Is. Maura Nolan, Tonka and Co.'s Stock Report. Haweba, December 18; M the horse fair on 12th inst., we had a fair entry of horses, those of a useful stamp selling well. Weight carrying hacks; £lO to £l6; upstanding buggy horses, £ls; heavy draught*, £lB to £22. • At Eltham on 15th inst., the yards were - well filled with cattle, most of which sold readily. On the 17th inst at Hawera, considerably more than the quantity advertised came forward. Owing to excessive downpour of rain, the attendance of buyers was meagre, consequently several pens bad to return unsold. We quote—At Eltham—Weaners, 16s to 19«; mixed yearlings, 27s to 295; 2-year steers, 45s to 51s; 2i-year,steers, 555; store cows, 40s to 435; forward condition cows, 50s to 545; fat cows, 65s to 70s; springing heifers, 52s 6d to 655. At Hawera—Weaners to yearlings, 24s to 30«; weaners, 17s to 20s; yearling steers, 30s to 335; mixed yearlings, 26s to 28s 6d ; 2-year steers, 45s to 475; springing heifers, 55s to £3 7s 6d ; dairy cows, £3 12s 6d to £4 15s. New Plymouth, December 17. Cattle—At Rahoto, on Wednesday, there was a smaller master than usual. Bidding was dull and sales difficult to effect, although on the whole a good many lines changed bands. Calves made 15s; calves to yearlings, 20s; 15-month steers, 31s; store cows, 38s to 555. At our horse fair on Saturday a large number of horses came forward; bidding was slack except for draughts, and the result was rather a poor sale. At Waverley on Monday fair entries came forward, and we cleared the yards with the exception of one pen of hoggets, at prices on a par with late rates. At St. Hill Street yesterday fair entries Maw came forward, but bidding was not so •risk. The major portion of the entry changed hands before the close of the day. Pigs sold in favor of vendors. We quote : Horses—Unbroken draughts, £ls 12s 6d to £2l; broken draughts, up to £24; hacks •nd harness horses, up to £6 12s 6d; others, 22s 6d to £3. . Cattle—At Waverley—Steers, £3 ; yearlings, 27s to 37s 6d. At St. Hill Street—fat heifers, £3 6s to £4 4s; fat cows, 56s to £3 17s 6d; yearlings, 28s; calves, 5s to 12s; milkers, 80s to £3 17s. - Sheep—At Waverley—Ewes and lambs, 7s 5d to lis; hoggets, 8s 6d to 8s 9d; wethers, 6s 7d. At St. Hill Street—Fat •wee, 6s 3d; shorn wethers, 8s 6d; shorn noggets, ss; fat lambs, 2s to 5s lOd ; wethers in wool, lis 3d; hoggets in wool, 10s, fat ewes in wool, Bs. Pigs—Baconers, 265; porkers, 12s to 15s 3d; others, 9s 3d to 12s. Johnsonviixe, December 17. The cattle offered at the sale consisted of a few small well-finished bullocks; the rest were large but plain stores. Prices were about equal to last sale's rates. A large entry of pigs came forward and sold at late rater.";:.i ■ Ctttie—Best bullocks, £6 5s to £6 lis ; others, £5 7s 6d to £6; cows, £4 to £4 ss, equal to 16s per lOOlbs for ox beef, and 14s for cow beef. Sheep-Wethers, 7s lOd to 9s; ewes, 6s to 7i; lambs, 7s 6d to Bs.
Pjgs—Baconers, 27s to 30s ; porkers, 19s to 235; stores. 15s to 18s; small pigs, 6s 6d to 12s 6d.
