Egmont Farmers' Union (Limited) Report.
Hawera, November 19.
We held an unreserved clearing sale in the estate of the lata Mrs Coxhead, on the farm, Otakeho, on 12th instant. The .cows were a good line, and being in the.pink of condition elicited keen competition. Horses and other sundries also brought good values. We quote—Cows, £3 to £7 12s 6d. Horses —Hacks and light draughts, £4 123 6d to £lO.
At Manaia sale on 18th instant, the attendance of purchasers was limited. This was attributed partly to the backward spring and partly to dullness of fat stock of all descriptions, and although a limited number of cattle came forward most of them returned home unsold, the prices offered not reaching vendors' expectations. We quote—Store cows, 40s to 55s 6d; store wethers, 40s to 465; 2-year steers, 45s to 565; mixed yearlings. 25s to 32s 6d. Messrs Nolan, Toxiks and Co.'s Stock Report. Haweba, November 20. AtEltham, on 17th instant, we had a good entry, and fair bidding throughout, most oi the stock being sold at the hammer. At Hawera, on 10th instant, the yards were tilled with both cattle and,sheep. Bidding was keen throughout, resultiug in everything being disposed of with the exception of three pens. We quote—At Elthatn—Yearlings, 31s Cd to 36s ; weaners, 17s to 20s; 2 to 2£-year steers, 45s to 60s; store cows, 40s to 455; forward cows, 40s to 575; cows and calves, 48s 6d to 51; 18-month to 2-year steers, 45s to 51s ; springing heifers, £3 10s to £3 15s. At Ilawora—Weaners, 17s to 21s ; yearling steers, 33s to 36s ; yearling heifers, 27s 6d to 30s ; yearling to 18 month steers, 40s 6d to 475; 2-year steers, 48s to 575; steers, £3 5s to £3 7s 6d; 2\ to 3-year steers, £3 12s 6d to £3 15s; 2-year quiet heifers, 34s to 48s ; store cows, 42s to 46s ; forward cows, 50s to 56s 6d ; fat cows, £3 15s to £4 Is ; cows and calves, 53s to 595; mixed yearlings, 26s to 30s. Sheep—Wether hoggets, 8s 6d ; mixed half-bred hoggets, 6s Id to 6s 6d ; forward ewes, 9s 4d ; fat ewes, 10s 3d ; shorn fat ewes, 7s 3d ; shorn fat wethers, 8s 2d. Messrs F. R. Jackson and Cos. Stock Report. Johnsonville, November 10. We had an entry of good bullocks for the sale. Bidding was dull, and prices receded about Is 6d the lOOlbs. The sheep pens were filled with useful wethers and ewes. Prices were lower for all classes. Figs sold at last sale rates. Cattle—Best bullocks, £6 7s 6d to £7 os; others, £5 15s to £6 ss; cows, £3 5s 6d to £3 12s 6d (equal to 15s for ox and 123 for cow beef the lOOlbs). SheepWethers, 8s 6d to lis; ewes, 6s 6d to 7s; lambs, 7s Id to 7s 9d. Pigs—Baconers, 30s to 40s ; porkers, 19s 6d to 255; stores, lis to 14s 6d ; smaller pigs, 7s 9d to 9s 3d. Mr Newton King's Weekly Report. New Plymouth, November 19. Cattle—At Kahotu, on Wednesday, the yards were full, principally with young stock. Bidding was quiet, and though a fair amount changed hands prices showed no improvement. Calves made 21s; yearlings, 25s 6d to 30s; 2£ to 3-year steers, 555; cows and calves, 42s 6d; store cows, 40s to 50a; fat do., £4 2s. Sheep—Ewes and lambs, 9s 4d.
