The Parihaka Road Board notifies result of poll for the Upper Opua Road Loan. Tenders are called for falling twenty acres of bush. Mr Henry Brown will address the electors at the Rahotu Hall on Wednesday evening. A meeting of all those interested in the Rahotu Cricket Club will be held at Rahotu on Saturday evening at 8 o’clock. We give a reminder of Mr J. Brunette’* visit on Friday, when he will have goods on Tiew,st Times Office. Mr Bond, surgeon dentist, will visit Opunake on next Friday, and may be consulted at Middleton’s hotel. Mr Newton King will sell stock at his Rahotu yards to-morrow, for which he has a large entry. . . The dividend of surplus funds of the Opunake Dairy Factory Company is now payable at the office of the liqudator (Mr A. H. Moore). A meeting of ratepayers interested in the Waiteika Loan of £4OO will be held at Mr Coombridge’s house, on Saturday, October 24th, at 11 a.m. Mr Henry Brown will address the electors at Oaonui school-room on Thursday evening and at Eltham Road school on, Friday evening. , Mr A. Donal-l has purchased the purebred Clydesdale stallion Bonny Breast Knot, and gives fuller particulars of his pedigree and performances, also dates and places where he will travel during the season.

A meeting of Mr Henry Brown’s supporters was held in the Foresters’ Hall yesterday evening, when a strong committee was formed to further his interests aud-seoure his return.

We give a reminder of the meeting on Wednesday evening in the Town Hall under the auspices of the New Plymouth Prohibition League. On Thursday evening a meeting will be held in the Rahotu Hall.

The programme for the Opunake Racing Clubs meeting on Ist January appears in this issue. It contains eight events being one more than last year, and the added money is £275 being an increase of £25.

Mrs Ballard’s Spring Show was the centre of attraction on Saturday evening. There was a very handsome display of fashionable goods, including the latest fashions in dress goods, fancy trimmings, mantles and Parisian millinery. She will hold’ a Christmas display on next Saturday evening, al which will be shown a great number of novelties for Christinas and summer season.

At the Wesleyan Church on Sunday the Rev. H. T. Blamires, of Inglewood, conducted both services, the collections of the day being devoted towards the Heme Mission Fund. The church was filled both morning aud evening with attentive congregations, to listen to the able sermons delivered by the Rev. Mr Blamires. At the evening service the choir rendered an anthem during the offertory.

A serious accident happened at Kaponga on Thursday, by which Mr C. Dransfield sustained a compound fracture of his leg above the knee. It appears he was engaged with the horse Golden King, which he had leased from Mr Faber, aud having given him too much reign, the horse got in front and kicked him, with the result above mentioned. Dr Harrison’s services were requisitioned, and he set the leg and ordered the injured man’s removal to the Hawera hospital. The man was brought in by express late on Fri day night, and is doing well.—Star.

A very pleasant and enjoyable evening was spent in the Town Hall on Monday evening at the Wesleyan social. A very good programme of vocal and instrumental music was rendered and well received by the audience. Refreshments were handed round the room and were in plentiful supply. The following items were given :—Overture, Mrs Pope ; anthem, “ Hear the Trumpet loudly calling,” choir ; duet, Messrs Webb (cornet) and Hall (clarionet) ; instrumental piece, with violins, cornet, piano, etc.; recitation, “ Lady Clare,” Miss Claris ; reading, “ Peter Lamb’s Misfortune,” Rev. Mr Cannell; piano duet, Miss and Master Humphries ; anthem, “ Arise, Shine,” choir ; song, “ Ellei Rhee,” Master N. Cannell; recitation, “Jealousy,” Mr Claris ; cornet solo, “ Fair shines the Moon,” Mr Webb; duet, “The,Sea of Glass,” Mrs and Miss Cannell.
