Egmont Farmers' Union (Limited) Report.
Hawera, August 27. 'We held our fortnightly sale at Manaia on Wednesday, the 26th inst., when about the advertised number of cattle came forward. Although the attendance was small, bidding was good for young stock and 2i year steers, so thai; the bulk of the entries changed hands before leaving the yards. We quote :—2|-year steers, £8 to £8 7s 6d; yearlings, 20s to 28s; daiiy cows and heifers, £3 to £4 ; dry cows, 45s to 555. Sheep— Hoggets up to 9s.
Messrs Nolan, Tonks and Co.'s Stock Report.
Hawera, August 28. On 25th inst., our usual fortnightly sale was held at Eltham. The yards were fully packed with cattle, most of which were rather low in condition ; however, a large proportion being unreserved caused good competition and prices were on a par with late rates. On 26th, we held a sale at Patea on account of Mrs Jollie, everything selling at satisfactory prices. At our Hawera yards, on 27th inst., there was a good entry, bidding was slack, yet we succeeded in disposing of most line's, at or after the auction.
We quote—At Eltham—Weaners, 19s to 25s ; 2-year steers, 56s to £8 ; steers, 64s to 67s 6d ; dairy cows, £4 5s to £5 15s; yearlings, mixed sexes, 81s 6d to 85s ; yearling steers, 88s to 41s ; store cows, 42s to 455; yearling to 18-months quiet heifers, 85s to 37s 6d. fat cows, £3 to £4.
At Hawera—B-year steers, £4 to £4 ss; 2-year steers, £8 to £3 5s ; yearlings, 25s to 86s ; yearling steers, £2 ; fat cows, £8 16s to £4 ss; forward condition cows, £8 8s to £3 10s; store cows, 42s to 478 ; weaners, 22s to 295; 4 ; year-old•" springing heifers, £4 to £4 10s : dairy cows, £4 10s to £5 10s.
Sheep—Mixed 2-tooths, 7s 6d; 4-tooth forward condition, 10s lOd to lis 3d ; empty ewes,.6s Id ; cull ewes, 6s 2d.

New Plymouth, August 27.
At Midhnrst, on Tuesday, I held a clearing sale of Messrs Stead aud Jake's dairies. The day was exceedingly wet, and stock did not look at their best. The cows belonging to the first named gentleman were in rather poor condition, and sold at comparatively low prices. Mr Jake's herd were looking a good deal better, and realised very fair prices. Springers made from £4 to £6 2s 6d ; backward calvers, 50s to £4 ss. At Stratford, on Wednesday, I held clearing sales at the yards on account of Messrs Gieson and T. McGregor. The cows of the former were in good condition, and sold at fair prices. MiMcGregor's lot, however, were not looking so well, and prices did not rule high. I quote : Springers from £4 to £5 17s 6d ; late calvers, 52s to £3 15s.
The same day at Rnhotu, I held ray monthly sale, when there was a large muster of stock, with good attendance. You.jg cattle were in good demand, and nearly every line sold at satisfactory rates. Springing heifers of good quality, were well competed for, but backward calvers were not veryjaleable. I quote : Calves, 18s 6d to 24s ; yearlings, 26s to 88s 6d; store cows, 40s ; cows in calf, 56s to £8 10s ; springers, £4 2s 6d to £5 15s; cows and calves, 57s 6d ; 18-month steers, 48s ; 2 to 2|-do., 58s. At Ngaire, on Thursday, I held a clearing sale on account of Mr G. E. Applegate, when there was a good attendance, and satisfactory prices were realised.
Messrs Hunter and Nolan's Report.
Auckland, August 26. Horses—Large numbers have been brought forward and found purchasers at fully the previous week's value. The entries for disposal by auction at the Durham Yards on Friday were numerous and competition was brisk throughout. We quote : Heavy draughts, £ls to £81; medium £l2 to £l6 10s ; light harness, £5 to £5 15s; hacks, £3 15s to £2O; draught colts, £ls 15s to £26 10s. Cattle have been brought forward in sufficient numbers for requirements, met a steady demand, and sold at prices, showing little or no alteration in value. At Newmarket, on Tuesday a good many were yarded and maintained their values. The shipborne bullocks were exceptionally good, but even then not up to the local-fed. Ox beef ranged from 18s to 20s 1001 b ; cows, 18s to 19s ; steers ranged from £6 10s to £lO 7s 6d; cows, £8 15s to £6 5s ; springers, £3 15s to £6 7s 6d ; dry cows, 35s to 52s 6d; 2|-year-old steers, £4 3s to £4 10s; calves, 25s to 27s 6d. Sheep—There was a good muster, but as a rule the quality was not up to that of the previous week. There was little or no alteration in values. Wethers sold at from 12s 9d to 17s 3d ; ewes, 10s 9d to 14s ; mixed sexes, 13s 8d to 25s ; hoggets, 9s to 10s 9d. Pigs—A fair number of well-bred porkers sold from 12s to 27s 6d.
