COUNTY COUNCIL
In November next the ratepayers will be called on to elect a new Council, as the time of office of the present Council will then have expired. As the Council meets at New Plymouth, it is very hard to induce anyone from this southern end of the Parihaka Riding to seek election, owing to the distance to travel and the loss of time in attending to the duties pertaining to the office, Mr Adlam although residing outside the boundary holds very considerable interests in Parihaka and he has been approached to allow himself to be nominated for this riding at the forthcoming election’. *He has proved himself a very straightforward and painstaking member, and, if he could be induced to stand, could be trusted to look thoughly after the interests of whichever part he represented. He has a good grasp of the district and is
very attentive to his duties. He has almost decided to retire from the worries of the office, but at present men of his stamp can ill be spared, and we hope that he will allow himself to be nominated again. We feel sure he would receive good support from this end, as the ratepayers have every confidence in his honesty of purpose. Mr Gaue since his accession to office has also given good attention to his duties, but he informs us that he anticipates leaving the district at an early date, so that his services will not likely be at the disposal of ratepayers for another term.
