TAUNGATARA (Eltham Road].

(Our own Correspondent.) The ladies gave a ball on the 21st, which proved a great success. Refreshments were provided on a liberal scale and were handed round the room. The floor was in capital order, and the music supplied by local amateurs was voted first-class. The room was tastefully decorated with greenery and was well lighted. There were a number of pretty dresses, so that I don’t feel equal to the task of singling out one for belle. About 25 couples were present, and dancing was kept up with spirit till daylight, all present having thoroughly enjoyed themselves. I hear the settlers round Punehu intend erecting a hall this coming summer, and have now £3O in money and timber promised. The hall will be a great convenience for all social purposes.
