Wednesday evening a meeting was held at the schoolmasters residence to elect a new Library Committee. Mr Clark wis voted to the chair and read the report and balance-sheet, which showed a credit of some three pounds. The meeting then proceeded to the election of a new committee, wh.n the following gentlemen were electa,!, viz :—E. H. Clark, W. Greenway, T. Hughsou, Roebuck, and Jones. The latter gentleman was afterwards elected ch drman for the new committee, with Ml- Clark as secretary and hon treasurer. The now committee decided to make a thorough canvas of the whole district for new subscribers and get the subscriptions (which was again fixed at 5s per annum) in as soon as possible so as to send away for new books. It was also decided to have new doors fixed on the book case, also to have catalogues of the books printed so that each subscriber can have a copy to faciliate the selection of books.

On Thursday evening " the young ladies' dance" took place in the schoolroom and was well attended; iu fact it was pronounced the best and most enjoyable dance over held in Okato. The young ladies had spared no trouble to make it a success. Mr McCullum made an efficient M.C. Messrs Good and Putt supplied the music, which was guarantee of its excellence. The refreshment were both abundant and of first-class quality. Tho honers for " belle of the ball " were divided, some voting Miss Morris, others considering Miss Greenway or Mi.HS Bowers. There wore some very pretty dresses worn by other ladies present, which tended to enhance the beautiful effect of the gathering. A most pleasant dance was brought to a close about ;3 a.m.
