Our. Hawera correspondent wires us : " You are in for an enjoyable treat by the Cadzow Family to-morrow evening. It is a real good show and well deserves patronage.
Messis Newcomb and Massey are now taking stock, and for this week will offer the whole of their stock at slaughter prices to effect a speedy clearance to make room for new season's goods.—Advt.
Messrs Maunder and Patterson gave temperance addresses at Rahotu on 22nd inst., and had a good audience. They went over the same ground as at Opunake, a full report of which appeared in a recent issue. A.t the close of the address votes of thanks were given to the lecturers for their addresses.
The Cadzow Family appears (says the Star) at Opunake on Wednesday evening, and we can recommend people at the western end of the plains not to miss this concert, for it will be found to be of excellent variety and will be given in artistic style. When in Hawera, the Family pleased the public greatly.
Country school object lesson time. The Teacher, holding it up: " This is an—" Chorus: " Envelope, sir." Teacher : "On it is a—" Chorus: " Queen's 'ed, sir." Teacher: " This round stamp with the date on is the—" Small piping treble solo: "Bingworm, sir." Adjournment for ten minutes play.
We give a reminder of Mr W. D. Scott's Opunake stock sale which takes place on Friday, at which a number of choice dairy cows, the property of Mr B. L. Hutchens, will be offered, together with trap and harness and milking utensils, Mr Hutchens having left the district. The good will of nice compact farm of 141 acres will also be offered. This should be a good opportunity for any one desirous of starting a dairy.
