AUSTRALIANS IN ENGLAND. MATCH V. HAMPHSHIRE. London, July 6. The Australians began a match against Hamphshire at Southampton to-day. The Home team comprise Barton, Webb, Soar, Baldwin, Wootten, Quinton, Steele, Sykes, Ward, Robson, and Wynyard. Darling, Jones, Kelly, and Gregory are not playing for the colonials, Musgrove, their manager, taking a place as eleventh man. The weather was fine and the attendance fair. The wicket was playing fast, and Hamphshire, who batted first, were all out for 144—Ward 54, Wynyard 87, Captain Quinton 14. The last seven wickets fell for 15, Eady creating quite a panic. He obtained 4 for 6, and McKibbin 5 for 41. When the Australians went in they made good use of the excellent wicket. # London, July 6. The Australians in their first innings made 462. Iredale 106 Donnan 80 Giffen 180 Graham 66 Trumble 28 Hamphshire were all out at the second trial for 203, the Australians thus winning by an innings and 125 runs. The principal scorers for the county were— Wynyard 68 • Webb 45 Ward 28 OXFORD V. CAMBRIDGE.

London, July 6. In the University cricket match Oxford had to get 330 to win, and scored the required number for the loss of six wicket* o Czriz : jijh, July 8. The Secretary of the Cricket Council has received a telegram that the Australians were willing to play five matches in New Zealand on terms which will probably be satisfactory to the Council.
