PIHAMA.

(Our Own Correspondent.)

A vei'y successful social was held in the school-room on last Friday evening. A very good programme was presented, all the items being well received. Songs were contributed by Misses Tait, Cowern, J. Lambie, Sheat, Mr 3 Cannell, and Mr N. Sheat ; recitations by Mr and Miss Clarice and a rcadiug by Rev Mr Cannell. The most pleasing feature of the evening was a presentation of a silver teapot to Miss Pettigrew. Mr Sheat in a few well chosen words referred to the indebtedness of the Pihama people to Miss Pettigrew as organist at all the services held in. the school. Mr Cnnnell responded on behalf of Miss Pettigrew, and after partaking of a good supper, the usual vote of thanks and singing the National Anthem, the friends dispersed well pleased with their evening's amusement.
