Householders’ Meeting.
After several years of total indifference with regard to school matters, during which the school has steadi'y gone from bad to worse, the householders woke up and turned out in force on Monday night, there being about fifty present. After a number of householders refused to take the chair, Mr C. McHardy was proposed and accepted. The Chairman of the outgoing committee then read the report and balance-sheet, which were adopted.
The election of the new committee was then proceeded with, and resulted as follows : —W. C. Dudley, 44 ; D. McGregor, 42 ; Rev W. Cannell, 39 ; J. Stewart, 88 ; J. C. Hickey, 33 ; D. McSweeney, 80 ; J. H. Flynn, 27 ; M. J. Brennan, 21; J. Guy, 19. The first seven were declared duly elected.
SCHOOL COMMITTEE. Immediately after the householders’ meeting the new committee met, and elected Mr McSweeney chairman for the ensuing year, on the motion of Mr McGregor seconded by Mr Stewart. Mr McSweeney thanked them forth e honor conferred on him and took the chair.
Resolved, That Mr J. Stewart bo clerk and treasurer. (Caunell-Mc-Gregor.) Resolved, That the committee meet on the first Monday in each month. (Cannell-Dudley.) Resolved, That the chairman and treasurer be appointed to sign cheques. ( Cannell-McGregor.)
