County Funds.
At the County Council meeting on Wednesday, the allocation of the funds for the year was made. Mr Horrocks presented the following statement, which was addpted : The total receipts collected under general account amount to £5958 9s 6d, and the expenditure to £5780 16s 9d, leaving as with a debit balance of £3292 18s 6d as against the debit balance of £3470 lis 3d carried forward on 31st March, 1895—viz, £177 12s 9d to the good in our financial position. The actual receipts on revenue account are £53 6s 4d less, or £5905 3s 2d, to which add £460 12s 6d still to collect this coming financial year—£636s 15s Bd—and there was also included in this £241 2s 5d collected from outstanding amount in previous financial year. There therefore remains a net revenue of £6122 13s 3d as the revenue proper for financial year ending March 81st, 1896. The total amount collected during the past financial year on account of revenue, and revenue still to collect, is £6365 153 Bd, as shown above, and is the sum we should have had available if the outstanding sum had come in. The revenue was estimated on 31st March, 1895, as follows : Balance available from previous financial year to collect, £265 19s 6d; voted for expenditure, £6OOO 4s 6d ; total, £6266 4s. The revenue for the year has therefore exceeded our anticipations by £99 lis Bd. The estimated revenue, was, allocated as follows : To divide among
ridings, £4817 ; administration, £800; Omata Eiding (their credit balance), £255 2s; contingencies, £894 2s; total, £6266 4s; less contingencies, £294 2s, leaving £5872 2s really allocated.
The position of the riding vote is as follows:
Moa, £l7lo.—ln credit, £207 9a 8d ; debit balance, 1894-95, £92 13s 7d ; or, £ll4 16s Id. Waitara, £lo7B.—ln debit, £2BO 6s 2d; debit balance, 1894-95, £129 15s 7d ; dr, £B6O Is 9d. Parihaka, £lo6o.—ln debit, £367 Is 9d; debit balance 1894-95, £l2B 18s 2d; dr, £495 14s lid. Omata, £974.—1n debit, £97 16a 3d ; credit balance 1894-95, £255 2s; cr, £157 5s 9d. Waitara dr, £360 Is 9d; Parihaka dr, £495 14s lid; dr, £855 16s Bd. Moa cr, £144 16s Id; Omata, £157 5s 9d; or, £272 Is lOd ; expended beyond vote (inclusive of liabilities made), dr, £SBB 14s lOd. Administration Vote, £Boo—Expended, £lO3l 0s lid ; liability, say, £SO ; total, £lOBl 0s lid ; dr, £2Bl 0s lid ; riding debit, £SBB 14s lOd ; total expenditure, &c, beyond vote, £864 15s 9d.
Sums Allocated, &c—Ridings, voted, £4817; ridings, spent and liabilities made, £583 14s lOd ; administration, voted £BOO ; administration, spent and liabilities made £2Bl 0s- lid; Omata, voted, £255'2s ; voted, spent, and liabilities, £6736 17s 9d. Revenue collected and to collect, £6355 15s 8d ; expended and liable for beyond revenue, £371 2s Id. Sum spent in excess of vote under ridings and administration, £5872 2s; dr, £864 15s 9d. Sam collected during year and outstanding in excess of vote, £5872 ; cr, £493 13s 8d ; dr, £371 2s Id. Liabilities of ridings, total, £B4O 10s 4d ; administration liabilities, £SO; total £B6l 10s 4d. The debits and credits when made as against these will cover the liquidation of these liabilities to date—that is to say: Moa starts theyear with a credit of £ll4 16s Id from last financial year, and gets credit for her allocation besides; Omata the -same; the other ridings haviug to provide for their debits out of next year's allocation.
To Provide for next Financial Year. —To wipe out administration liabilities made, £SO; provide interest on overdraft, say, £250. Liabilities of ridings incurred to March 81st, not inclusive of stone-breakers: Moa, £216 6s 6d; Waitara, £339 7s 6d; Omata, £126 19s lOd; Parihaka, £l5B. 16s 6d; total, £B4l 10s 4d. Administration and contingencies, £BSB 7s lOd. For credit Omata, £157 5s 9d; do, Moa, £ll4 36s U. Grand total, £2272. Estimated revenue 1896-97, say, £6IOO (inclusive of arrears). Alljcations as above, £2272; divide among ridiugs, pro rata, according to value of rate and toll money in riding, £6IOO. A vote of thanks was passed to Mr Horrocks, and the clerk was instructed to enter the statement in the —News. ',
