Land Board.

The Land Board met on Monday. Present : The Commissioner of Crown Lands (Mr Strauchon), Messrs Kelly, Stock and Roy.

J. McCool’s application to take in Jas. Sexton as partner in lease in perpetuity of Section 20, Block 2, Omona, was agreed to. The following applied for the freehold of deferred payment lands : —J. S. Tosland,' Section 10, Block 13, Opunake; H. Parkes, Section 117, Block 11, Egmont; G. Webber, Section 23, Block 13, Kaupokonui; J. Morrow, Section 70, Block 12, Cape; R. Morrow, Section 3G, Block 12, Cape.—Agreed to. The following local bodies made proposals for the expenditure of “ thirds ” ;—Waiwakaiho Road Board, £B3 5s Gd ; Parihaka Road Board, £24 10s 9d ; Stratford County Council, £SG 4s; Hawera County Council, £625 9s sd.—Approved of. The thirds accruing from Section 1, Block 12, Mimi, will be paid over to the Stratford County Council, in order that the formation of the Mangitia road can be proceeded with. A list of selectors, more than two instalments in arrear was laid before the meeting. W. Van Asch applied for permission to take 10,000 feet of timber from the Crown lands apposite Section 1, Block 1, Kapara, to build a woolshed, as timber had been taken from his land by bridge contractors. —Applicant is to be informed that the Board regrets it cannot let the timber be taken without payment of the usual royalty—viz, Gd per sq. ft. for pine, and Is per sq. ft. for totara.

The sections held by G. Gardiner, B. Weale, and 0. A. Eich, will be declared forfeited, and the lands opened under part 3of the Act. Consideration of the other tenants in arrear was adjourned. J. D. Colledge and J. Colledge are to bo informed that upon payment of rent due, the Board will consider their applications to be released from their engagements in respect of their leases.—News.
