Death in the Royal Family.
THE QUEEN PROSTRATED. London, January 24. As Prince Henry of Batfcenberg did not show satisfactory improvement from attack •■>( fever be was sent home to England vai a view of receiving better medical attention and treatment ; but be died on Monday when tbe steamer was off Sierra Leone.
Prince Henry of Battenberg was proceeding to Madeira when a relapse set in.
The Queen is quite prostrated, and had a delicate interview with Princess Beatrice in breaking the news. The proposed review of the squadron by her Majesty has been cancelled owing to the Prince's death. January 25.
It is expected tbat the funeral of the Prince of Battenberg will take place at Windsor Castle. The Emperor of Germany sent a a message of condolence to the Royal Family. Many meetings have been held in London and the provinces, at which resolutions of sympathy with tbe Queen were carried on the loss of one who volunteered for service in a foreign country. The Prince's death has been a blow to the Queen, who is most deeply affected, especially at the knowledge that her favorite daughter's happy life is thus crushed.
