Education Board.

The Board met ou Wednesday. Present: Miss Heywood, Messrs Bauchope (chairman), Faull, Allsworth, Ambury, Adlam, and Wade. The Chairman action was approved in appointing Miss Irvine temporary assistaut at Stratford at £2 per week ; and Mr R. W. Hill temporary teacher at Cardiff at £2 10s per week. The tender of J. Bellringer for the following painting contracts was accepted : Huirangi, £9 10s; Wortley Road, £ll ss; Egmout Village, £2B -Is ; Albert Road, £-1 2s 6d ; Omata, £lB ; Frankley Road, £2O 15s. The tender of Mr R. J. West for painting at Ureuui, and that of Mr D. McDonald (£42 17s Gd) for painting and repairs at Opunake were accepted. Tenders will be called for the erection of a school at Tongaporutu. The Midhirst Committee will be informed that a chimney was Built instead of painting this year. A resolution was received from the Secretary of the Stratford County School Committees, urging the Board to hold scholarship exams, at Stratford as well as at New Plymouth. A letter from Mr Thompson with reference to requirements at Pukearuhe was left to the Chairman to be dealt with. Mr G. W. Potts, teacher at Bell Block, was granted seven months' leave of absence, provided he supplies a substitute to be approved by the Chairman. Accounts amounting to £992 7s 7d were passed, a quantity of formal business was transacted, and the Board adjourood.—Herald.
