Handicap Hurdles, of 30 sovs; second horse to "receive 5 sovs from the stakes; 1$ miles; over six flights of hurdles, 3ft 6in high. Nomination, 15s ; acceptance, 15s. To start at 1 p.m. 4. Farmers' Plate, of 20 sovs ; second horse to receive 2 sovs from the stakes ; 1 mile. For all horses that are not nominated for any other race at this meeting, and have not started in any other race, Farmers' Plates excepted, and winners of those barred. Welter weight for age. ACCEPTANCES and GENERAL ENTRIES close at 8 p.m. on Saturday, 21st December. Telegraph office closes at 5 p.m. Rules and. Regulations, Nominations and Entries must be scaled and addressed to the Hon SBcretary, Opunake, with fees enclosed, and name, description, age, pedigree and performances of the horse, name of the owner, and colors of the rider. No entry will be received for any race except upon these conditions : That all disputes, claims, and objections arising out of the Racing shall be decided by a majority of the Stewards present, or those whom they may appoint; their decision upon all points connected with the carrying out of this programme shall be final. The winner of any handicap fiat race after the publication of the weights to carry a penalty of 7lbs in the Flying, Racing Club, and New Year Handicaps ; penalties not cumulative. All races to be run under the Rules of Racing as adopted by the Metropolitan Clubs of New Zealand. A HACK is a horse that has never won an advertised race (Hack and Hunter Races excepted), and is not nominated at time of start, and has not during the three months previous thereto, been nominated for any race (Hack and Hunter Races excepted). RATA is a dark chestnut horse, standing 15 hands 2J inches on good sound legs, with good fiat bone and immense muscular power. He is by Puriri, by Treason, out of Bishop of Osnaburgh mare. Being by that sterling sire Puriri, who sired such winners as Forester, Jenny, Escapade, Ruf'us, Corsair, Rob Roy, and a host of others, lie should, if properly mated, be able to leave some very useful cross country horses, and his hacks from ordinary mares are hard to beat. His dam's sire, Treason, has also left a good number of winners. While in training Rata won the Maiden at Manaia, and ran into a place on several occasions. Terms: £1 ss. Will run with mares on Mr A.
