To start at 4.30 p.m. The winner of any race on the flat after the declaration of weights incurs a penalty of 71bs. D.\TES OF NOMINATIONS AND ACCEPTANCES. Nominations for the Flying Handicap, Pungarehu Cup, and District Welter close with the Secretary, Pungarehu Post Office, on Thursday, 9th January, 1896, at 5 p.m.* accompanied by the name, age, color, pedigree, and performances of horses. Acceptances for handicaps and Nominations for Introduction Stakes, District Maiden, and Selling Race close on Thursday, 23rd January, 1896. Handicaps will appear on Saturday, 18th January, 1896. The requisite amount must accompany all Nominations and Acceptances. Number 3 and Number G arc confined to horses owned for not less than three calender months immediately prior to nomination between the Tapuae and Taungatara Rivers. RULES AND REGULATIONS. Definition of a Hack.—A hack is a horse that has not won an advertised race (Hack Hunter and Pony races excepted), and is not at time of start, and has not been, dining bix calender months previous to the time of starting, nominated for any race (Hack, Hunter, and Pony races excepted.) All horses must be ridden in colors, same to accompany acceptances and general entries. All races to be run under the Rules of Racing, as adopted by the Metropolitan Clubs of New Zealand. No entry or nomination will bo received for any race except on these conditions : —That all disputes, claims and objections arising shall be decided by a majority of the Stewards present, or those whom they may appoint; their decision upon all points connected with the carrying out of this programme shall be final, except in cases of appeal, provided for by the Rules of racing. Stakes to be paid in full. *Mr A. A. Ambridge has consented (for New Plymouth owners, convenience) to receive nominations, &0., at Brougham Street up to 8 p.m. on the dates given above. H, CORBETT.
