Education Board.

The Board met on Thursday. Present :—Miss Heywood, Messrs Bauchope (chairman), Faull, Ambury, Mackay, Adlam, Allsworth and Wade. The Chairman was instructed to receive tenders and accept one for felling bush on the Tougaporutu School site. The architect was instructed to call for alternate tenders for a residence at Kaimate. He was also instructed to report on the chimney at Lower Kent Road, to the Chairman, who will have power to act. A sum of £1 16s, being unexpended portion of grant for a shelter shed, will be handed to the Palmer Eoad Committee for metalling. Mr ■ Husband's resignation of the Cardiff School, to take effect on January 25, was accepted. Miss Hodder's resignation as pupil teacher at Midhurst, to taka effect on January 17, was also accepted. The architect was instructed to report on work required at Fitzroy. Miss Meyenbiug will be granted an vides a substitute, to be approved by the Board. A letter from the Stratford Committee urging that scholarship examination be held there as well as at New Plymouth, will be considered by the Board early next year. A circular from the Marlborough Board, asking co-operation in applying for special assistance to the Minister of Education for small schools, will be held over till after the census is taken when it will be considered. The Board decided that the articles in the High School museum, which are in trust by the Board, be handed over to the Borough Council to form the nucleus of a museum. The Chairman and Inspector were requested to furnish Mr Gillespie with the usual testimonial.
