The nominations for the Racing Club’s Annual Meeting on New Year’s Day were received on Saturday night, and total 79, against 49 received for the same number last year. The result must be very gratifying to the executive, and particularly to the hon secretary, proving, as was contended all along, that the change of course would meet with the approval of horseowners, and be conducive to better nominations than heretofore. The privileges were sold by auction on Saturday last, and realised £ll4 15s, as against £79 10s last year. The course has been well laid down, grandstand and necessary fencing, &e., is being erected, and it is to be hoped that the club will have a successful meeting, as considerable expense has been entailed in securing a permanent course and in the erection of permanent racing accessories.
