Mr Milne pointed out that some of the ratepayers on this road had been paying rates for over twenty years, and nothing had been done on the road, which is in a very bad state. Cr Winks said a resolution was on the minutes that tbe road should be formed as soon as possible. It was no use touching it until the contract for carrying stone was completed. Cr Forsyth said that in view of the riding being overdrawn he did not think more than formation could be done. Mr Nolan thought it would be as well to metal it at the same time, especially if the road were to be used for some time for hauling metalling. The metal could be got cheaply. There were 10 or 12 chains of the road over which a horse could not pull an empty cart. The deputation then withdrew. Cr Scott suggested that in view of works to be done the clerk should enquire as to a supply of shell rock from Nukumaru. The Council adjourned.—Star.
