AWATUNA.
(Our Own Correspondent.) Mr W. D. Scott held a very successful sale here on Monday last. Mr Willie Morton has been appointed his agent for this part, and succeeding in getting a good number of entries, a much larger quantity of stock rolling up than was advertised. The attendance was good and bidding spirited, so that every line brought forward changed hands. After the sale three cheers were called for Mr Morton for the successful result of bis maiden effort, as it is fully recognised by the settlers that the establishment of a successful market here will be an immense boon to them, saving them the trouble of driving lines they wish to dispose of to Opunake. Mr Scott the auctioner is deservedly very popular amongst the settlers, and with the new life infused into his yards here it will not be long before he will have control of the whole of the business in the bush district. It is a mystery, to me,' I must confess, how it is that you can almost invariably obtain a better price at his sales for any lines you have to dispose of than you can get elsewnere, and stranger still that the purchasers seem quite satisfied too that they have secured good value for their money.
