CONDITION OF COWS.

(to the editor.) Sir, —I notice iu your yesterday's issue, under heading "Awatuna," that your correspondent states that cows in tbis district are in a very emaciated condition, and that they have quite enough to do to live at all without giving milk. I do not know who your correspondent may be, but I am quite sure that the cows here can compare favorably with those in other districts; and as for giving milk, I know one mob that is averaging three gallons each daily, and have no doubt many more are doing as well. I can only imagine that your correspondent is one of those individuals who does not know a milking cow from a store steer, and thinks that a dairy cow should be mud fat to milk well. —I am, &c, H. S. Briant. Awatuna, October 9, 1895.
