Town Board.
The ordinary monthly meeting of the above Board was held on Monday, October 14th. Present: Messrs G. W. Rogers (chairman), J. Stewart, H. H. Seccombe, and A. O'Brien. Minutes of previous maeting were read and confirmed. Mr K. Breach waited on the Board and complained that a number of owners had no badges on their cows, they stating that they could not procure them. The Clerk said said there was a supply of badges on hand, so that there would be now no excuse. Mr Breach said he would give two days notice and then all cows found without badges would be impounded. Correspondence from Manaia Town Board re alteration in mail service, asking co-operation of Board. Resolved, That letter be acknowledged. The Chairman said he thought that the request for co-operation would have been more iu place if the wishes and convenience of the Opunake residents had been consulted before the Manaia Board took action. However, the alterations made in postal arrangments in answer to the communication of this Board were very satisfactory. From the Audit Office, returning balance sheet duly certified. From Mr McGuire,M.H.R., re Local Government Bilh From the Premier, acknowledging receipt of resolution of the Board suggesting delay in considering Local Government Bill. From G. and F. Carter, drawing attention to rough state of footpath in front of Section 11 and 12, Block 24, Allison Street. Resolved, That repairs be affected. Resolved, That tenders be called, to form the footpath on Main South Road between Tennyson Street and Longfellow Road ; also repairs to footpath on Longfellow Road, and clearing drain iu Gisborne Terrace. Mr Stewart drew the attention of the Board to the practice people indulged in of dumping rubbish on King Street. The question of the rough state of the Main Road was discussed, and it was resolved that the County Council be written to asking if it would be willing to hand over control of the Main Road through the township to the Board. Resolved that the Minister of Justice be written to requesting an answer re Courthouse arrangements. The Board's Credit Balance at date is £B3.
