In Committee on the Land for Settlement Act Amendment Bill, a new clause was added, providing that when two members are farming in partnership each of them shall be allowed to retain the prescribed maximum fixed in the principal Act. A proviso was inserted that the partnership must have existed for at least two years. The Bill was reported, and the third reading fixed for next day. LAND AND INCOMES. In Committee, the Land and Income Assessment Act Amendment Bill was farther considered, and was amended by striking out the retrospective provision and the making of the Land Tax a permanent one on native leases. A new clause was added, which provided that commercial'travellers to the colony from England or Australia shall pay a licensing fee, not exceeding £3O, in lieu of paying Income Tax. The Bill was reported, and the third reading fixed for next day.
