RAHOTU.
(Our own Correspondent.) Things have been very quiet indeed about here during the last week. Some of the farmers were beginning to think they could do with a little rain, as the ground was getting pretty dry, and they got it. On Saturday evening a thunderstorm, accompanied by an extraordinary downpour of rain, passed over the district. The lightning was at times almost blinding in its brilliance and vividness. Mr Knott, the well-known lecturer, gave his lecture " Ten Nights in a Bar-room," iu the hall on Saturday evening. On account of the very wet weather only a small number turned up, but those were well satisfied with what they heard and saw. On Sunday evening ho held a Service of Song, with limelight pictures of " Scenes from the Life cf Christ," which was well attended ; ana with which every one seemed well pleased. August 26.
