Education Board.
The Education Board met on Wednesday. Present: Miss Heywood, Messrs Bauchope (chairman), Hill, Faull, Ambury, Adlam, Allsworth, Mackay and Wafe. * INGLEWOOD. Tenders for the the erection of latrines at Ingle wood were referred to the Chairman and architect to deal with. HURFORD BOAD. The Board decided to accept Mr Hall's offer to line the porch at Hurford Boad at a cost not exceeding £2 18s. OPUNAKE. The Architect was instructed to call for tenders for erecting a porch at the Opunake residence. PALMER ROAD. The Board will contribute £6 towards the cost of erection of a shelter shed at Palmer Road, provided the work is done to the satisfaction of the architect. CONFIRMED. The Chairman's action was confirmed in (respect of appointing R. E. Thomas, pupil teacher in the Stratford School and Miss F. Hodder as third year pupil teacher in the Midhurst School, the former appointment to date from July 1 and the latter from August 16. The Chairman's action was also confirmed in transferring Miss Browne from Cardiff to Ngaire. STRATFORD. The Architect was instructed to proceed with raising the office floors and other repairs at Stratford. TENDERS. The following tenders were accepted: T. Penwarden, £2 10s for lining Rahotu residence ; New Plymouth Sash and Door Company, £7 Is 6d for supplying material for same. RESIGNATIOM. Miss K. Smith's resignation as pupil teacher in the Central School was received and accepted to take effect on October 13. APPOINTMENT. Mrs Dowling was appointed fourth assistant in the Central School, appointment to date from August 1. WAITARA. The architect was instructed to provide material (posts and wire) for fencing the grounds of the Waitara teacher's residence, provided the same is erected by Mr R. Morgan as per his letter of July 20, and under Mr Faull's supervision. PUPIL TEACHERS. The Chairman and Inspector were appointed to arrange for the appointment of pupil teachers at Cardiff (1), Lepperfcon (1), Fitzroy (an assistant), and Bell Block (1). CONFERENCE. A question of appointing a delegate to reprerent the Board at the Educational Conference at Wellington was discussed.—Mr Allsworth moved, That the Board cannot see its way to support the proposed Conference of Education Boards at Wellington, as in view of the changes usually made in the syllabus further alterations are not, in the opinion of the Board, desirable at present. The Board is further of opinion that, with the limited fuuds at its disposal, it can spend the money which the Conference will cost to better advantage.—Carried. TARIKI road. The Board decided that the wishes of the settlers at to Tariki Road, as to the removal of the school building at Waipuku, be complied with, provided the assistance of the settlers will give will justify the Board doing so. BEACONSFIELD ROAD. • The question of fencing at the Beaconsfield Road was left to Mr Allsworth to deal with. . accounts. .-'' Accounts amounting to £10313 lis 8d were passed for payme»£^Herald.
