Town Board.
The adjourned meeting of the above Board was held on Tuesday, July 9th. Present: —Messrs Rogers (chairman), D. McGregor, O'Brien and Stewart. - Miuutes of the previoas meeting were read and cofirmed. CORRESPONDENCE. From B. Smith, Manaia, stating he would be in Opunake shortly and would be pleased to meet the members of the Board and arrange for planting In the township on very favorable terms. Resolved that a committee consisting of the whole Board interview Mr Smith. It was considered that the Board might expend £25 on this necessary work. From the Department of Justice, stating that the matter of arranging for a fresh tenure of the hall for court purposes was under consideration, and an early reply would be forwarded. From J. Stitt and C. F. McGregor, requesting permission to erect four posts in front of their premises for hitching horses to. Resolved that permission be granted provided that dressed posts are used, such posts to be to the satisfaction of the Board. From F. Hickey, asking for repairs to Longfellow Road, which at present was under water. Left to Works Committee to inspect and report. Outward correspondence was read and approved. Mr Rogers moved, in accordance with notice of motion, that all obstructions be removed from roads in the town. A discussion arose over the best way to make Whitcombe Terrace passable for traffic. It was ultimately resolved to let the matter stand over till next meeting, the Works Committee in the meantime to iilspect and report. WORKS COMMITTEE. Resolved that Messrs Rogers, Stewart, and O'Brien, be appointed a Works Committee for the ensuing month.
The following accounts were passed for payment: —D. Murphy, £8 Is 3d ; Carter and Co, £lO 10s lOd; G. Ellis, 10s ; W. Pettigrew, 8s 6d ; Innes and Co, 4s 6d ; B. Vickery, £2 2s; Kuobbs, £2.
