Land Board.

The Land Board met on Monday. Present—The Commissioner of Crown Lands (Mr Straucbon), Messrs Stock, Heslop, and Roy.' MANGIMINGI BLOCK. It was decided that the amount of valuation of improvements in Mangi : mingi sections be paid over to the outgoing lessee, less arrears of rent and share of cost of re-offereding lands for sale. ACQUIRING FREEHOLDS. The following applied for the freehold of d.p. lands:— W. Winmill, Sections 64, 66, and 66, Block 12, Cape ;

P. Bourke, Section 28, Block 9, Kaupokonui.—Granted. mortgages. Three applications to mortgage we: e dealt with. HUIROA. Messrs Standish and Kerr applied on behalf of T. Burckett for re-con-sideration of application to sublet Section 1, Block 11, Huiroa, to Chas. Kafske.—After due consideration the application was agreed to. OAKURA. Mr R. Cave applied to be allowed to purchase or lease Section 119, Oakura District, which was in 1892 made a Forest Reserve by the Board but not gazetted as such, saying that it was not suitable for a Forest Reserve. —The Board decided to adhere to its former resolution. LEASE IN PERPETUITY. A. Schinkel applied to convert p.l. of Sectiou 89, Block 14, Opunake, to a lease in perpetuity.—Agreed to. ARREARS. The Surveyor-General stated that the Department had been advised that the functious of the Board in regard to dealing with occupiers of Crown lands, who are in arrears with their rates, do sot commence until the local body has exhausted it 3 legal remedy for the recovery of the rates unpaid. WAITARA. Mr F. W. Richmond applied on behalf of Toroa, a native, to sell under Section 131 of The Native Land Court Act, 1894, an undivided interest in part of Section 61, Waitara West district.—The request will bo forwarded to His Excellency the Governor, under section 181 of the. above Act, for his consideration. CAPITALISED VALUE. W. Martin appliedfor6 month's extension of time to pay off the capitalised value of Section 4, Block 15, Kaupokonui, the license expiring on 80th June, 1895. —Agreed to. HASTINGS ROAD. D. Gebbie wrote on the subject of the Hastings Road thirds, and asked if the Board would receive a deputation from the settlers on the matter.—Resolved—" That in consequence of a portion of the Waimate Road District, in which the sections concerned are situated, having been merged into the Hawera County, the Council be advised of the thirds accruing, and be requested to submit proposal for expenditure." WAIMATE. W. Hair was granted extension of time to pay off capitalised value of Section 11, Block 6, Waimate.—News.
