HOME AND FOREIGN. britishTolitics. London, June 24. The Salisbury Cabinet will include himself as Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs ; the Duke of Devonshire as Lord President of the Council; Mr Balfour, as First Lord of the Treasury. It is expected that Sir R. Webster will be Lord High Chancellor; Mr Goschen, or Sir M. Hicksbeach, Chancellor of the Exchequer; Lord Knutsford, Secretary of State for the Colonies; Mr Curzon, Secretary of State for the Indian Department; Bight Hon J. Chamberlain, Minister for the War Department; Mr Gorst, PostmasteiGeneral; Mr Chaplain, Minister for Agriculture; Mr Jackson, Minister for Ireland ; Sir H. James, Home Secretary. The Times says that only the principal positions in the New Ministry will be filled before appealing to the electors, and hints that the Marquis of Salisbury will be Prime Minister; The Duke of Devonshire, Foreign Secretary ; Mr Balfour Leading Minister in the House of Commons, and First Lord of the Treasury ; Mr Goschen, Minister for the Admirality Department; Mr Chamberlain, Minister for the War Department; Sir M. Hicks-Beach, Chancellor of the Exchequer; Mr Courtenay, President of the Board of Trade.
The Standard says Sir H. James and the Marquis of Lansdowne will join the Cabinet. A memorial to the Chancellor of the Exchequer in favor of bi-metallism has been signed by a number of bankers, merchants, manufactures, labor organizations, landowners, members of Parliament and Professors of political economy, praying that the Government will co-operate with the other Powers to secure a fixed par of exchange between metals. The Marquis of Salisbury, the Duke of Devonshire, Mr Balfour and Mr Chamberlain held a conference together, after which the Marquis of Salisbury had an audience with the Queen at Windsor. London, June 25. " Professor Fraser, of Edinburgh, claims to have obtained definite proof of the antidotal properties of blood serum against the poison of venomous serpents. Desperate street fighting took place in Cork yesterday between the followers of Dillon and Redmond. Many persons were injured, and several houses were wrecked. The police had the greatest difficulty in quelling the riot. A Manchester Colonial Steamship Company has been formed to run produce steamers between New Zealand, Australia, Manchester, and Glasgow, calling at the Cape. The builders of the vessels are taking shares. The Manchester City News advises importers to offer equal financial facilities to London, in order to secure an opening of the trade. The rebellion in Macedonia is spreading. Numerous bands, armed with Martinis, are attacking the Turkish soldiers. There cartloads of the latter killed have arrived at Palanka.
Melbourne, June 24
Two men Nettleberg, and Myers, died at Port Melbourne of arsenical poisoning. They made a drink from a bag labelled " Cream of Tartar," and too late discovered that it was arsenic Nettleberg's son also had a drink, but with medical aid recovered.
