(Our own Correspondent.) The second rifle match for Mr McGuire's trophy came of on Saturday. The weather was fair, but there was only a small muster of members. No very startling scores were made, if we except that of Mr W. C. Phillips at 500yds. At this range he made the possible. Appended are the scores : H'p. 200 500 600-Tl. F. Owing to the inclement weather on Friday evening, the third fortnightly dance had to be postponed for a week. I regret to learn that a little girl of Mrs Simeon's got burnt about the face on Saturday evening. She had placed some kerosene on a fire, and as it did not burn up directly, began to blow, the fire, when the oil burst into flame, with the result as stated. June 24th. ,
