ELTHAM ROAD.

(Our Own Correspondent.)

The proprietors of the Crown Dairy Factories met the milk suppliers at Punehu factory on Wednesday night with a view to arriving at terras as to the price to be paid for milk for next season. Aiter a good deal of hesitation and discussion it was decided to accept the offer made, viz,, per gallon of a 3’6 Babcock test, the price to be raised in the event of a rise in the butter market.

A very pleasant social gathering (a rare event iu this part) was held at the residence of Mr F. Watson, at Puuehu, on Tuesday night. Between thirty and forty people responded to the invitation of Mr and Mrs Watson, many of the visitors coming from Opunake, and several from Rahotu. Dancing commenced about 7.30, and was continued till daylight, with intervals for supper, refreshments and songs. Songs were sung at veiy frequent intervals, nearly every one present contributing one, and some three or four. Indeed, the latent talent exhibited in that line was a revelation to many of us. Mr and Mrs Watson, assisted by Mrs Thomas, were most attentive to the comfort of their guests. Non-dancers managed to pass the evening very pleasantly with cards and refreshments and one and all themselves as delighted with the evening’s amusement.
