Band of Hope.
There was a crowded audience on Wednesday evening, when the entertainment in connection with the Band of Hope took place in the Foresters' Hall. The Eev Mr Cannell opened the proceedings with a few remarks on the subject of prohibition, which he thought would eventually become the law of the-land. The following programme was then gone through : Violin duet, Misses Cannell; recitation, " The Auction," Mr Fisher; song, " Queen of the Earth," Mr Eaikes ; recitation, " Little Jim," Miss E. Cross; trio, " Whispering Hope," Misses Treweek,' Guy, and Jury ; song, " Caller Herrin'," Miss Des Forges ; reading, "A Bashful Man," Mr B. White ; recitation, " Fredericktowu," Miss A. Mcllardy; song, " Anchored," Master J. Humphries; recitation, " Curfew shall not ring to-night," Miss A. Dudley; pianoforte duet, "Flamhiaux March," Miss and Master Humphries ; recitation, ".How the Slave St. Michael's," Mr Burgess; quartette, Miss Carter, Miss Brame, and Messrs Fisher and Coombridge ; pianoforte duet, Misses Humphries and Des Forges : quintette, " Lo, my shepherd is divii>3," Mrs Elgar, Miss Cannell, Miss Brame, and Messrs Parish and Lloyd ; song, Miss E. Humphries ; recitation, " Casabianca," Miss B. Dudley ; duet, Miss Cannell (piano) and Mr Lloyd (violin); song, " Never Parted," Mr Parish.
