OIL.

According to the report in our New Plymouth exchanges the chances of success in the production of oil at the Moturoa works is getting very rosy. Should it turn out as good as it is painted prosperity will soon shine out in the Taranaki district, as there will be a large influx of capital into the district to push on boring operations. If the boring operations prove successful there, there is every probability that this side of the mountain will also receive its due share of attention, as we are informed that there are first-class indications of oil between the Waiteika and Taungatara Rivers. Once the industry is established every known prospect is sure to be tested, and owing to the less volcanic nature of the country on this side of the mountain we believe there would be a very fair probability of success in boring and obtaining a permanent supply.
