Mr Newton King’s Weekly Report.

At theHaymarket, on Saturday, pigs sold at about late rat s. Slips, 4s 6d to 6s ; larger do., 9s 6d. Horses were dull of sale, and the majority offered were passed in ; hacks made £1 10s to £4 ; 1 pony, £3 10s. At the mart poultry was plentiful, and sold at low rates. Fowls, 7d to Is id ; ducks, 8d to Is 4d ; potatoes, 2s to[3s 9d ; onions, fd to Id ; sharps, 10s ; pigmeal, 9s ; hams, 6s ; cheese, 4d.

The sale of Messi’s McMasters and Shalders’ drapery was well attended and fair prices realised. Fruit.—Local supplies are not coming forward quite so freely though values are unchanged. I quote; Apples, 8s 6d to 4s per case; Nelson russets, 3s to 3s 3d per box ; Tahiti oranges, 8d per dozen ; walnuts, 34d to 4d per lb.

Cattle. —At Inglewood, on Tuesday, at the sale of Mr N. L. Patercon’s dairy

cows, there was a fair attendance. The cows were a good average lot all but - spring calvers, and as the vendor was not inclined to accept prices offered, most of them were passed in. Prices for those sold ranged from £4 5s to £5 2s 6d. At Eahotu, on Wednesday', there was a small muster of stock and the attendance was very moderate. I succeeded, however, in placing most of the pens at fairly good prices. Calves made 9s to 17s 6d; yearlings, 25s ; 18month mixed, 35s ; springing heifers, £4 to £4 2s 6d.
