Mr Newton King's Weekly Report.

On Tuesday I held a clearing sale at Stratford of Mr Tylee’s dairy stock. Owing, no doubt,' to the rain, there was only a moderate attendance. The cows on the whole were a good lot, mostly young, and considering they were all backward calvers very satit* factory prices wore realised, ranging from £3 to £5 16s; heifers in calf, £2 to £3 10s ; bull, £1 10s; calves, £l. At Stratford, on Wednesday, there was a very small muster, and the sale was a very quiet one. Calves made 9s 6d to £1; steers, £8 10a ; good fresh cows, £8 12s 6d ; store do., £B.

Our monthly sale was held at Okaiawa on the 18th inst. There wa# only a small muster of cattle yarded, and although the attendance was good, bidding was dull throughout, and some of the lines were passed in unsold. We quote:—Fat cows and heifers (light weights), £8 10s to £8 17s 6d, 2-year heifers, £ll9s to £8 6s; weaners, 16s to 20s. Pigs, 10s to 17s 6d.

We held a very successful clearing sale on behalf of Mr J. Belcher on the farm, Finnerty Road, Cardiff. The dairy cows were a good line and brought good prices, considering the time of the year. Other classes of cattle and sundries sold well. We quote Dairy cows and heifers, £8 17s 6d to £lO 12s 6d.

At Manaia, on the 24th inst., about the advertised number of cattle came forward for sale, but unfortunately the number‘present was small. Bidding was exceptionally slow, resulting in but little business being transacted. We quote:—9 to 18-month steers, 88s to 455; fat cows and heifers, £3lss to £4 ; store cows, 40s to 455; weaners, 20s to 22s 6d. Messrs Nolan, Tonks and Co.’s Stock Report. At Eltham, on Tuesday, the quantity of cattle advertised did not come forward, but all stock yarded was sold at the hammer. At Hawera, on Thursday, we had a large muster of both sheep and cattle. Owing to the inclemency of the weather the attendance was limited, and conse-. quently bidding slack, but we managed to quit the majority of the stock at or after the auction. We quote :—Calves, 10s ; weaners mixed,'l7s 6d to 25s ; yearling steers, 27s to 82s; 18-months to 2-year steers, 42s to 45s ; 2 to steers, £2l6s to £8 8s; 2£-year steers good, £3lsa; 8-year steers, £4 5s ; forward bullocks, £4 18s 6d to £5 ; yearling heifers, 28s to 25,s 6d; 18-month heifers, 85s; cows in calf, 55s to 58s ; forward cows, £8 7s; fat cows, £3 lls6d; springers, £4 7s 6d. Sheep—Shorn lambs, 8s 6d, woolly lambs, 5s Id ; 2-tooth ewes in lamb, 6s 6d to 6s 9d ; 2,4, and 6* tooth ewes in lamb, 6s 9d; full-mouth ewes, 8s 6d to 3s lid; 2-tpoth ewes and forward wethers, 7s 6d. We quote—Heavy draught, £9 10s to £16155; medium draught, £6 10s to £ll 16s; hacks £4 10s to £9 15s; light harness horses, £4 10s to £9 10s; unbroken colts and fillies, £5 10s to £9 15s. Competition was steady at Newmarket for ox beef at from 17s to 19s; Some averages of fat steers were—£7 10s Bd, £7 7s 6d, £7 2s Bd, £6 18s 9d, £6 10s 9d, £6 10s 6d ; cows, £7 ; £6 12s 6d, £5 5s 9d; £3 17s 6d, £8 12s. Sheep—Wethers sold from 5s to lls 9d ; ewes, 6s to 9s 9d ; lambs, 4s to 9s 3d. Pigs, more numerous, did not maintain previous prices for porkers, which sold from 17s to £1 Is each. Buokland and Son’s Report. • Auckland, April 26. On Friday, medium draughts brought from £6 to £8; well-bred riding hores, £8 to £l2 10s each. At Remuera, on Thursday,, fet cattle brought from 18s to 20s the lOOlbs. Wethers ranged from 7* to lls, fat ewes 6s to 10s; aged longwoolled ewes from 2s, merino ewes Is 9d each, lambs from 2s 4d to 7s each.
