Waimate Road Board.
The monthly meeting was held on Friday, there being present—Messrs McKeown (chairman), Coxhead, McCarthy, Henson, Sheat, Watson, Mudford, and Boriie. After the minutes had been read, Mr McCarthy said he wished to protest against their being confirmed, because they contained a resolution passed at the last meeting granting an increased salary to the foreman of works. Mr McCarthy said that the salaries of.the clerk and foreman were £256 a year, whilst the salary of the late engineer, who also acted as clerk was £225. He wished his adverse vote recorded. On a division, the minutes_were confirmed by four to one. AUROA ROAD. C. Korts wrote offering tb blind the gravel at 2s 6d per yard. Accepted. NATIVE RATES. Letters were received from the Hawera and Stratford County Councils, New Plymouth Harbour Board, and the Parihaka Eoad Board, asking the Board to join in taking action in obtaining payment of native rates in arrear. The matter was held over till tke result of the application by the Hawera County Council had been received. WATINO ROAD. Resolved that the foreman attend to W. Bremer's application for improvements on the Watino Road. SUTHERLAND JSOAD. A. Sutherland wrote asking that the gate on the road be allowed to remain, as he did not wish to fence-at present. He promised to make good all damage to the gravel, and to give a road over his land to the beach. Resolved that an extension of time be granted within which to remove the gate. KIRI ROAD. Resolved to comply with the request of D. M. Warren tor two or three small fords. WIREMU ROAD. Ranby and Boleyn wrote asking for work to be done on the Wiremu Road. The foreman reported that tenders were out for the work. UPPER DUTHIE ROAD. Resolved that C. A. Kelling be informed that monoy for expenditure on Duthie Road had not reached the Board. INAHA ROAD. Thomas Scott wrote asking that thirds accruiug on Section 65, Block 7, Waimate, be spent in forming and metalling the lower Inaha Road from the section to the cross road at Siggs'. Held over. HARBOUR RATE. The New Plymouth Harbor Board wrote asking on what terms the Board would collect the harbor rate. — 2{ per cent. OPUNAKE-STRATFORD ROAD LOAN. G. A. Hurley rendered an account for costs out of pocket in calling a meeting of ratepayers. Road not yet under Board's control. MANAIA DRILL HALL. The question of improvements was, on a division, held over till the next meeting of ratepayers, Messrs Borrie and McCarthy voting for a resolution to expend £SO in the improvements. TENDERS. Resolved that Mr McCarthy ba authorised to deal with tenders to be received on the 17th inst. CATTLE RANGING. Resolved that the clerk write to the cattle ranger, directing him to impound cattle straying on the roads.— Star.
