The Laud Board aet on Monday. present: The Commissioner of Crown Lands (chairman), Messrs Stock, Heslop, Roy, and H >n. T. Kelly. LEGAL QUESTION. IN. .Bowick, whose name was drawn out of the ballot box first in the matter of Section I, Block VII, Mimi, but who failed to pay the amount of valuation for improvements at the ' ballot, wrote saying that he was advised to bring the case into Court, as the sale plan did not state that the money had to be sent with the halfyear's rent. -The Board decided that as he had not complied with conditions of sale, viz., an immediate deposit of the value of improvements, £BS 8s 6d, after the ballot, the Board cannot alter the decision already arrived at. . r ' *[,„ CAPITALISE. R. Bourke was allowed to capitalise on.Section XXIII, Block IX, Kaupokonui. TRANSFERS. T. V. Simons applied to transfer deferred.payrnent Section XXIV, Manganui/toi J. : Vince. Agreed to. R. T. Lillewall applied to transfer do■:fe:rred payment Section XXV, Block XTV, Cape, to H. Stonex, giving an undertaking to effect the deficient im- ' prOvemenls amounting to £24. The -Board will agree to the transfer on condition that sec 147 of " The Land Act, be complied with. Duffil and Simons applied to transfer perpetual lease Section XX, Block XII, Huiroa, to G. and A. Coleman. The. transfer was approved. H. L. Peake, as executor in Mie estate of G. Peake (deceased), applied to have Section XII, Block 111, Hawera, be transfeared to him. Agreed to.; —In consequence of his removal to Gisborne in exchange of farms with his brother, W. A. McCutchan, James McCutchan, the selector of Section XII, Block IV, Mimi, applied to transfer the lease of the said section to his said brother. Agreed to. TONGArORUTU. .C. H. .McCutchan, junr., asked if selections could be made of Crown lands on the north bank of the Tongaporutu river. It was decided that the survey of lands on the north bank of the Tongaporutu river be undertaken as soon as possible. OLD TENURE. John Harre, schoolmaster, at Normanby, asked to be allowed to continue on Sections 12 and 14, Block 15, Ngaire, Under the old tenure of- de-
feired payment and perpetual lease in- - stead of converting to lease in per- « pejuity, as the death of his wife, made it impossible for him to at present reside on the freehold near the sections. He did not wish to depart from the conversion to lease and perpetuity if the Board could dispense >yr'pih residence for a time.—The Board decided to allow the sections to remain fit former tenure. •SCHEDULES. The schedule of the Paiihaka Eoad Board to expend £3tf 7s Bd, accrued thirds to September 29 last, was agreed to.— Regarding the expenditure •of thirds from the sections on the Wutino Eoad occupied by Messrs Bremner, McGregor, and Aitken, the Waimate Eoad Board staled that the thirds are badly needed in the block from whence they are derived, as the only outlet to the Eltham Eoad will cost about £SOO. The Eoad Board will not agree to spend the thirds outage the block in a northerly direction. ' Board decided to adhere to its qriginal decision. BEQUEST. G. H. Bell appeared with a request that the Board would allow him £26 10s for improvements affected on Section 12, Block 6, Egmont, the selector, T*. Conway, having agreed with him to fell the bush (about 17 acres), and having done so and burnt the same, the selector, Conway, is not to be found. 1 The; Board decided that if the lease was not signed by Conway before next .aneeting the Board would deal with the case then. • ■■■ h ATWOUBNED. The question of J. Campion's application for time to effect deficient improvements on Section 8, Blook 8, Hawera, was further adjourned till next meeting. NEXT MEETING.
