Opunake Jetty.
A meeting of settlers was held at the Oaonui Dairy Factory, on Thursday, to consider ways and means of providing for the re-erection of the' jetty. Mr Brennan explained what had been decided on at the meeting of shareholders held at Opunake on 11th February, and all present were agreed that it was very desirable an effort should be made to rebuild it. It was arranged that canvassers should be appointed for the various roads, and progress be reported in ten days. Mr Malcolm undertook to canvass the Ngariki and Manihi Roads; Mr Lusk, the Whitioraßoad; Mr O’Rorke, the Kina Road ; and Mr Maxwell, the Arawhala, Opua, and main roads within the Oaonui district. Great enthusiasm was shown, and if other parts of the district, where meetings are to be held, enter as heartily into the proposal success is assured.
