EGMONT SUMMER FIRST~DAY. r The above meeting was held on Wednesday, and was favored with fin© weather. Between 2000 and 8000 people were on the ground. The course was in good order, and the improvements and surroundings generally were duly appreciated. The Sires' Hack Produce Stakes and the use of the starting machine were new features of the meeting. The machine was used in the Cup, Welter, and First Hack Flat, and worked by Mr Crawford, the patentee, of Wellington, and good starts were effected. The racing and dividends were good.
