Land Board.
The Land Board met on. Mouday. Present: Messrs Stock, Heslop, Roy, and Hon T. Kelly, M.L.C. ' CHAIRMAN. In the absence of the Commissioner of Crown Lands, Hon T. Kelly was voted to the chair. OPAKU. Miss M. E. Depster applied for 1000 acres of unsurveyed land to the north of small run No 6, Opaku.—lt was decided to inform the applicant that the land is not open for selection before survey. TRANSFERS. G. W. Symmans appplied to transfer deferred payment -Section 18, Block xii, Egmont, to A. H. Denham. —Agreed to.—The following were allowed to transfer perpetual lease lands : —J. Bland to J. Were, Section 22, Block xv, Huiroa ; J. G. Haddow and J. Mackie to J. G. Haddow, Section 7 Block xv, Kapara; W. L. Tocker to C. Elliot, Section 1, Block tx, Ngatimaru. FREEHOLD. The following applied for the freehold of D P. lands : —A Wisnewski, Section 57, Block i, Huiroa ; S. Tyrell, Section 85, Block i, Opuuake; J. R. Stewart, Section 50, Block xi, Opunake; J. Goller, Section 7, Block i, Huiroa ; T. Julian, Section 21, Block ix, Cape ; J. Christoffel, Section 88, Block xt, Kaupokonui.—Agreed to. The following applied for freeholds of P.L. lands : F. Guilloson, Section 22 Block xv, Ngaire ; J. R. Stewart, Section 48, Block xi, Opunake. —Agreed to. CONVERTING. The following were allowed to convert to lease in perpetuity: R. O. Ellis, Section 1 Blk xi, Egmont, P.L ; J. If. Bjaker, Sections 13 and 1-1, Block ni, Hawer*; DP. A. Schinkel
was aliowtd to convert P.L. Seetim U 9, Block xiv, Oj unake, to D P. EXTENSION. '1 h j following app ied for an extension oi time to pay off capitalised values : W. Shearer, Section 1. Block iv, Waimate ; C. 0. Ekdahl, Section 2a, Block x, Kgaire.—The applicants were allowed a further period of six months. The following applied for an extension to pay off arrears of instalments : J. M. Bown, Section 14, Block xn, Huiroa ; W. Jeffersey, Section 87, Block in, Huiroa. The applicants were allowed till March 81 next to pay up. SURRENDER. E. S. Bateman s-titrd that ho was not in a position to pay off arrears in rent on Scctiou -1, Block xi, Ngatimaru which he desires to forfeit. —The surrender was accepted. The following applied for permission to surrender; J\ Hunter Tanner S.S., Section 3, Block 15, Upper Waitara ; E. Gardner, Milsom Special Settlement, Section 2, Block 2, Ngatimaru ; W. Harvey, Oxford Special Settlement, Block 5, Ngatimaru ; R. Brown, Milsom Special Settlement, Section 81, Block 0, Ngatimaru ; Janet Brown, Milsom Special Settlement, Section So, Block 0, Ngatimaru ; E. A. H. Herman, Oxford Special Settlement, Section 22, Block 5, Ngatimaru. The surrenders were accepted. REM. James Aiken forwarded payment for half-year's rent on Section 1, Block 11, and Section 1, Block 12, and Section G, Block 15, Opaku, and requested to be relieved of the first and last mentioned leases, the surrender of the middle one having ahvady been accepted by the Governor in terms of the previous resolution of the Board.—lt was decided that as applicant had paid up the arreas of rent in terms of the Board's former resolutions the Governor be recommended to accept the surrender of the leases. iJUSH. Mrs,M. M. Tocker reported that 80 acres of bush were felled on Section 1, Block 8, Huiroa, and that the balance of 20 acres would be sown in the course of three weeks.—lt was decided that Mrs Tocker bo requested to forward a statutory declaration as to improvements effected, pointing out that if she cannot reside on the section she must apply to the Board for leave of absence therefrom. STAND OVER. The Surveyor-General intimated the request of J. "Walsh to be allowed to surrender his lease of Section G, Block 11, Ngaire, Mangamingi Block in the same terms as the other lessees. Allowed to stand over, Mr Walsh to be requested to forward a formal application to the Board to surrender. The Surveyor-General also advised the Board as to how the lands must be dealt with, expressing an opinion that there appeared to be no law by which the lauds could be dealt with without being open to to the public. SCEDULE. TheJVloa Road Board submitted proposals for the expenditure of £5lB 9s 5d of thirds accrued to September 29 last. The ranger recommended that the sums of £8 3s Gd on the Junction Road, £27 Gs 2d on the Motukawa Road, £9 17s lOd on Egmont Road, and £2 19s 7d on the Tariki Road be expended as directed by him.—lt was decided that the Road Board's proposals, as amended by the Ranger, be agreed to. The Ciifton County submitted proposals for the expenditure of £lO7 5s sd, being portion of thirds accrued to September 29 last.—Agreed to.—Herald.
