Jock by Victor, out of Young Pride, by Lord Glasgow, out of Lake Pride. Victor by Conqueror, out of Diamond. It is unnecessary to give fuller particulars of Jock’s pedigree, the excellence of which is well known, is also his success as a prize-taker, being for two seasons champion of Hawera, and later champion of Auckland. Ben More is a bay colt, 17 hands high, showing immense bone and substance. He is descended from famous Clydesdale sires and dams on both sides. WAR CRY is a graceful chestnut, full of life and activity. He possesses good jumping strains, being by Volunteer out of Lucy, the dam of Manaia (the Auckland hurdler), and Nganeko. Lucy by Master Rowe, out of an Australian thoroughbred mare by The Sluggard. Master Rowe (b) by Towton (a), out of Miss Rowe (b). Lucy was also a good performer in her time. Both of these sires are young, healthy, and free from all hereditary disease. ISAAC’S stock speak for themselves, as they have won a lot of money, and are in great request with buyers of horses for the Indian market. Mated with half-bred mares his stock have proved suitable for all general purposes, while those he has sired from thoroughbred mares have been very successful on the turf. His son Billingsgate, as a two, three, and four-year-old, was one of the best performers of the clay. He is by Puriri, by Treason, out of Bishop of Osnaburgh mare. Being by that sterling sire Puriri, who sired such winners as Foresters, Jenny, Escapade, Rufus, Corsair, Rob Roy, and a host of others, he should, if properly mated, bo able to leave some very useful crosscountry horses, and his hacks from ordinary mares are hard to beat. His dam’s sire, Treason, has also left a good number of winners. While in training Rata won the Maiden at Manaia, and ran into a place on several occasions. Terms : £1 10s.
